How to talk to your kids about climate change

It can be very challenging to talk to children about the problems facing the environment, including climate change, increasing levels of waste, and endangered species. There is a seeming tension between wanting to raise environmentally conscious children, and traumatizing them by talking about problems that can seem overwhelming and unmanageable.
This post is geared towards giving you the tools to start (or continue!) a conversation with your children about why the environment and the issues it currently faces are so important. There are a lot of resources available that specifically address how to discuss climate change with children; this post contains are a few that we found particularly helpful.
